Scuba Discovery

Peaceful Valley, A-1 Scuba

Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch has partnered with A-1 Scuba, one of Denver's oldest scuba schools, brings a certified PADI instructor and gear to camp to offer this independent-contractor program.  You'll watch a training video, learn basic skills in the water, and then go diving in the pool.  You'll earn a BSA patch and finish PADI Module 1!  You must be at least 12 years old, a Blue Swimmer, and bring the A-1 PADI Release and medical history form signed by Scout's parents.  If your health history shows that you have any of the listed health problems, you will probably not be allowed to participate.

Registration for Scuba Discovery

Gates Aquatics Pool.  Cost $30 per person.  Pay fee at camp.  11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

White Water Rafting

Peaceful Valley, River Runners, and Big Horn Sheep Canyon

Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch has partnered with one of Colorado’s premier rafting companies, River Runners, to provide units or individuals attending Cris Dobbins or Cortlandt Dietler the opportunity to raft down the Arkansas River as part of their summer camp experience!

This unique and thrilling activity is open to all Scouts and adult leaders, you just have to be a blue swimmer.  Better yet, it takes place on your open day at camp, meaning Scouts won’t have to miss any of their merit badges to participate! The trip will be on the Arkansas River in the Big Horn Sheep Canyon at the Royal Gorge.  Participants will take on Class II and III rapids.

The cost includes transportation, wet suit, spray jacket, rubber foot booties, guides, and lunch. When arriving at check-in, participants will be asked for a waiver.  The trip then departs from camp at 7:30 a.m., and will return at approximately 4:30 p.m. later that day.

What To Bring

First, be sure to fill out the online waiver before arriving at camp.  Please note that a parent or guardian needs to fill out the waiver for any participants under the age of 18 years old.  The online wavier is located here: https://riverrunners.ezwaiver.com/bsa2017.

For your actual day of rafting, bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, towel, strap-on sandals, and $2-$3 to tip the raft guide.

Registration for White Water Rafting

Bighorn Sheep Canyon.  Cost $80 per person.  There is no age limit.

Royal Gorge.  Cost $90 per person.  All participants must be at least 14 years old.
