River Runners White Water Rafting Royal GorgeWhite Water Rafting & Summer Camp

Peaceful Valley, River Runners, and Big Horn Sheep Canyon

Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch has partnered with one of Colorado’s premier rafting companies, River Runners, to provide units or individuals attending Cris Dobbins or Cortlandt Dietler the opportunity to raft down the Arkansas River as part of their summer camp experience!

This unique and thrilling activity is open to all Scouts and adult leaders, you just have to be a blue swimmer.  Better yet, it takes place on your open day at camp, meaning Scouts won’t have to miss any of their merit badges to participate! The trip will be on the Arkansas River in the Big Horn Sheep Canyon at the Royal Gorge.  Participants will take on Class II and III rapids.

The cost per person is $80, which includes transportation, wet suit, spray jacket, rubber foot booties, guides, and lunch. When arriving at check-in, participants will be asked for a waiver.  The trip then departs from camp at 8:00 a.m., and will return at approximately 4:30 p.m. later that day.

What To Bring

First, be sure to fill out the online waiver before arriving at camp.  Please note that a parent or guardian needs to fill out the waiver for any participants under the age of 18 years old.  The online wavier is located here: https://riverrunners.ezwaiver.com/bsa2016.

For your actual day of rafting, bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, towel, strap-on sandals, and $2-$3 to tip the raft guide.
